GdS: Milan turn to 22-year-old Arsenal midfielder after Renato Sanches disappointment

By Oliver Fisher -

Another report has emerged claiming that AC Milan have added Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga to their list of targets.

The Rossoneri remain in the market for a new central midfielder having missed out on Renato Sanches and Carney Chukwuemeka, who chose to join Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea respectively in the last couple of weeks.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the situation is now more fluid than it was when Milan were focusing their efforts on Sanches as various different profiles are being explored, including the likes of Pape Matar Sarr (Tottenham) and Raphael Onyedika (Midtjylland).

A new profile is emerging and once again it has a Belgian flavour, as Albert Sambi Lokonga is back on the wish list. The 22-year-old midfielder – who plays for Arsenal and the U21 national team (but has already made his senior debut) – has been linked with Milan before, when he was at Anderlecht.

Arsenal signed him last summer on a contract until 2026, and last season he amassed 24 appearances, of which 19 came in the Premier League.

  1. Milan disappointed San he’s and not the other way round……Milan can not buy anybody, we can’t even afford onyedika, let the season just start, worst mecato ever

  2. Makes zero sense for Arsenal or Milan

Milan can’t afford a ‘break even’ amount for Arsenal, which would be ~16m (plus any sell on clause)

A dry loan wouldn’t make much sense as he’s in need of development before being a starter

Maybe a loan with an option to buy set high, but would Arsenal risk him having a breakout year and leaving below value? Seems unlikely IMO

  3. Not, they don’t. Milan aren’t going to waste a spot on someone who can’t make a mark for a Europa League club like Arsenal. You might as well link Milan with garbage like Maitland-Niles.

  4. Our old target. Now already have high price. Just skip him. We cannot pay arsenal cash unless arsenal accept loan option
