AC Milan’s Coppa Italia defeat to Lazio highlighted the truly irreplaceable member of the starting line-up: Luka Modric.

They played a ‘great match’ last night, and were on top for all the game barring the start of the second half. Zaccagni, Guendouzi, Gila and Isaksen were the best, but Romagnoli also did some good things to limit Milan.
Milan’s issues

This combination of ‘limitations, subtractions and suspensions’ resulted in a match that offered no thrills in the first half: just a lot of effort and a lot of running. It improved significantly after the break, as Milan persistently pressed for the lead, but with little effectiveness.
Sarri is starting to make sense of the season, while Allegri has exited one of the three competitions his side are competing in. Neither Elliott nor RedBird Capital seem willing to risk more money in January to try and move closer to a complete squad, which could generate further issues.
Lazio, transfer ban or not, Tare or not, have always been mediocre with low ambitions. Their MO is to try to qualify for the UCL and pocket the money… Which they’ve done numerous times, losing to sub par teams. Lazio played anti football in the match last night (can’t say we didn’t either) but we didn’t play our best team and there’s a huge drop off in quality on the bench. We have a 19 man squad. Good riddance to a cup that would have just derailed our top 4 hopes.

Allegri ball is the biggest limitation. Look at the last several games. ACM eked out wins. A header goes in, or a short gets deflected in, or Mike doesn’t make a great save and the story being told is different. None of these wins instilled confidence. Grita only goes so far. I totally admit to not being an Allegri fan and I’m sure Juve fans are smiling thinking what did you expect.

I think we have a good starting 11 but beyond that, the bench is thin. And we all know we’re lacking a 9 that makes a difference.

Italian media are full of sh. they have just two stories, and whenever we win they print the hallelujah story, when we lose they print the all-is-bad story. i dont understand how people do even buy this sh.
