AC Milan are considering a heavy revamp of the attacking department, and Nicolò Zaniolo’s name has popped up again.

On Tuesday, Tuttosport published a report stating that Milan could look to make another move for Zaniolo in the summer window, for a variety of different reasons. This morning, the paper (via MilanNews) have doubled down on the story.

Zaniolo a concrete target

Milan are preparing to return to the training pitch at Milanello to prepare for the tricky and complicated trip to Napoli. At the same time, the management are continuing to plan, to give Massimiliano Allegri a squad capable of competing in Europe and domestically.

An old flame has recently been rekindled with Zaniolo back on the radar, a player that Paolo Maldini wanted to sign in the spring of 2023. He seems to be back to his near-best with Udinese, and the Friulian club will almost certainly buy him from Galatasaray for around €10m.

What could happen next? His agent Vigorelli was vague in an interview with Il Gazzettino, stating: “He’s perfectly happy in Udine, that’s for sure. Conceiving other interest is part of football; here we’re just playing by ear.”

Santiago Gimenez, Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Fullkrug are all exit candidates, with the Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic situations to be watched closely too. One player could be moved out to bring in another.

Allegri would gladly welcome a player like Zaniolo, who has improved significantly in recent months, matured in an environment away from the spotlight, and rediscovered the serenity he lost after his turbulent experience at Roma.

It’s April and there’s a season to finish, so any rumours are perhaps not helpful. However, Milan are trying to develop a tactical plan for next season, and they’ll certainly need to rebuild from an attack that hasn’t performed at its best this year.

Allegri wants a solid, reliable and quality offensive unit that can make a difference from the start. And a player like Zaniolo – versatile and able to adapt to a variety of situations – could be a key asset, for the squad list too.

  1. We really could’ve used a player with his charisma last night, Gattuso read the inter players he included wrong, they have no spine, that’s why they capitulated last night, and twice in the Champions League final, as well as the Europa League final, Inter players are spineless.

    1. There are so many players that could have done better than those inter players yesterday. Sad display, and then they’ll come back and perform well for Inter, super annoying. Only positive I can take from that game is maybe the inter players bad form continues (Dimarco looks like he’s ready to retire lol) and they drop more points. But Gattuso’s selection was just awful. No aggression, everyone just kept backing off and giving Bosnia all the space they wanted. Terrible. They need to start giving dif players and especially younger players some chances.

  2. Maybe Zaniolo finally grew up. His talent has never been the problem, it’s his fitness and attitude. Perhaps for a good price he could add to the team. I, however, dont really read into these rumors. We’ve been linked with Berardi and Icardi every window. Zaniolo is on the same boat.
