As is the case going into seemingly every summer window, a big sale to raise funds cannot be ruled out for AC Milan.
According to MilanNews, there is a perhaps ‘unsuspecting’ player that is attracting interest from clubs around Europe: Youssouf Fofana. The French midfielder, who arrived at AC Milan during the 2024 summer window from Monaco, has several admirers from the Premier League and Turkey.
This aspect will be worth considering over the coming months, as several clubs are now starting to make concrete moves to see if there are the margins to land him.
A possible cash injection
It’s well known that player trading is a necessary practice in the Italian league. Milan have already demonstrated their accustomedness to this financial lever to fuel its incoming operations with sales like those of Sandro Tonali and Tijjani Reijnders.
Fofana could be a player to be sacrificed in the pursuit of a ‘squad strengthening strategy’, with Massimiliano Allegri keen on seeing Leon Goretzka in the right-sided midfield role alongside Luka Modric, presuming he remains.
If interesting offers from England or Turkish clubs were to arrive, it’s not out of the question that they could be considered. Milan acquired Fofana from Monaco in the summer of 2024 for €26m (the figure recorded in the latest financial statements), at an annual amortisation rate of €5.2m.
Therefore, at the end of the current season, the residual value on the balance sheet still to be amortized would be around €16m. This is why a certain type of offer – perhaps in the region of €30m or more – could also be tempting in terms of generating a substantial capital gain.

Under förutsättning Goretzka ja. Annars inte. Sälj Leao i stället
That would be stupid. The players we should sell are Estupinan, RLC, and Tomori.
Nkunku can play as a winger and he’s a good player despite his poor season. No reason to sell him and Gimenez.
Selling Tomori would be even more stupid.
No reason to sell Nkunku? I can give you 37M.
What are they doing with Leao? The only way Nkunku makes sense is if they are planning to offload Rafa.
And Nkunku is like 1/20 of the player Leao is. Why waste time and money on him when you can get far better young players way cheaper than Nkunku cost us?
Fofana has been inconsistent for Milan bu the is a good option off the bench in the presence of a better starting midfielder. I question the plan for Ricci and Jashari at this point . What are their roles? Is Luka staying? And if so is Jashari spending another season on the bench? Then sell Ricci and Jashari if we’re talking midfield dept only.
Otherwise, there’s plenty of dead weight and loanees to offload to fund whatever dreams we may and may not have.
Ricci is a possession midfielder, not a dynamic ball carrier or deep lying playmaker. He isn’t flashy and won’t win a game on his own but he takes up good positions and is average with the ball.
Jashari is dynamic and aggressive, he’s had a difficult season due to injury and limited number of games no chance to build rhythm. Jashari will definitely be stating a significant number of games next season. He can play as an 8 or a 6.
It blows my mind when ppl claim to understand sport and then say things like? These truths are pretty obvious
selling Leao & keep Nkunku is most stupid thing i ever read, even moneyBall algo won’t agree
Hear hear!!!
