At the start of the season, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao both seemingly transferred into strikers. However, they have not excelled together.
The best of Leao and Pulisic has come in different games. Indeed, the duo have struggled with injuries throughout this season, and this has certainly played a big part. In fact, it has often meant that when both have flew, the other has been grounded.

It is an unfortunate reality for Milan, and in the rare occasions that they have played together, they have not really worked. Of course, it could be argued that they have never been 100% at the same time, but still, the point remains.
Pulisic Leao problem
As seen below, Gazzetta dello Sport writes this morning that they have only scored two goals together and everyone, but especially Massimiliano Allegri, is waiting for things to change. Parma at the weekend was the first game without a goal since Sergio Conceicao’s time at the club, and it brought up an uncomfortable conversation.
Perhaps Allegri needs a new attacking solution.
His top two scorers both have eight goals, which, considering the context, is not a terrible outcome so far. However, more is needed, and that is unavoidable. Pulisic has not scored this year, whilst Leao has only managed to find the net three times since the turn of the year.
Solution sought
Both are entering crucial parts of their season, and they both seek double digits for goals. For Allegri, though, it is a much simpler situation, he doesn’t care who, he just needs goals.
As a result, he is exploring options to get the most out of his attacking lineup. Together, the Portuguese-American combination have played 377 minutes, scoring only once each, albeit with both struggling.
Perhaps Max will persist with the formula, hoping that they can turn a corner. If they cannot, though, solutions are there. Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Füllkrug will both be ready when asked to provide.

If Pulisic and Fulkrug played together, Milan would be more productive in scoring goals.
And that’s a fact.
could be more productive………lol, we have seen it and one of the two has been missing clear cut chances back to back, how does this solve the problem?
Well, missing clear chances is still better in the long run than not creating chances at all (as Nkunku & Leao pairing does). They (Puli & Füll) are proven goal poachers and will start hitting the target. Nkunku can’t score because he’s not getting into positions to score.
switch to 3 – 4 – 3 let both play as winger their best will come out
more like it
They’re both injured, they’re both being played out of position, and the system we play makes it almost impossible for any forward to succeed. It’s not rocket science
This!
I’m surprised they produced being out of position tbh
Bingo. Allegri wants goals out of the midfield. Neither are suited for how ACM set up. Both Leao and Pulisic have limitations. Leao needs space. Without it his main strenght is neutralized. Pulisic is short so doesn’t offer much in the box except making runs. If there is no one there to play off of these runs often are meaningless.
It’s OK. We’ll stumble across this season into Top 4 with the players we got and kick the can down the road. And then maybe we’ll get reinforcements…
But then again, who is in charge of “reinforcing”? Furlani? Because Tare so far has been as useful as a bag of limp d*cks.
