AC Milan are planning to bring in a central defender and let one leave in order to complete the department, a journalist has claimed.
It is well known that Milan went for a more experienced option in the centre-back role towards the end of the summer mercato. Liverpool’s Joe Gomez and Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji were linked, but the former stayed and the latter chose rivals Inter.

In the end, David Odogu arrived from VfL Wolfsburg for a fee widely reported to be €10m, but given his lack of senior experience he is definitely seen as one for the future. He is yet to make a league appearance, which demonstrates this.
Milan’s idea
According to Alessandro Jacobone, Milan’s plan is ‘an in-and-out operation’ in the defensive department. Odogu – who started yesterday for Milan Futuro – would depart on a dry loan spell (no option to buy) to get more minutes.
In his place, a more experienced option would arrive who would be immediately ready to contribute to the cause. The club believe in the German defender, but have probably realised the need to bolster the role, especially if in a title race.
Mario Gila of Lazio is one option that Milan like, even if they ‘are slightly behind the other suitors’. Having Igli Tare as the sporting director is a card that works in favour of the Rossoneri, as it was he who brought him to Italy from Real Madrid when he worked in the capital.
We should do this with half of the signings, it shows how good of a job Tare did in the summer. Most signings aren’t of Milan starter level and should go on loan to grow more…

Rabiot was an Allegri signing, he was calling him to come to Milan for months. If any other manager was at Milan Tare wouldn’t sign him. Ricci was agreed before Tare even came, we knew the fee before Tare was even considered for the job. ??
The only credit I give him is Modric. But to be 100% real, he also wouldn’t join if Silvio Berlusconi wasn’t the president of Milan since 1986 and Milan wasn’t one of the top teams so Zvonimir Boban joined the club in 1991 and Luka Modric was a fan as a kid.

I don’t hate everything but I am stating the facts. Ricc was agreed before Tare even came, we knew the fee before Tare was even considered for the job. He couldn’t mess it up. Nkunku 37M€, Jashari 36M€, De Winter 20M€, Odogu 10M€, Athekame 10M€. How many players did Milan sign? Can you count and tell me how much is half of that?
To be fair, Nkunku sounds over Tare’s head. Jashari really hasn’t had an opportunity to show anything. DeWinter also, limited minutes. Odogu is an investment into the future, albeit, not brought in at the right time.

Yes, Furlani went to England and bought him. This is the most stupid thing I keep being repeated. Yes, overpaid players, you could have gotten players of same stature and ability for half the money. That is the reality. He is a bad sporting director. His goal is to bring players that will get minutes and be useful, not say the coach isn’t playing them or whatever. Allegri plays anyone he sees fit to start, Bartesaghi is there ahead of Estupinan because of that, not randomly.
And I forget to say, Jashari cost 50% more than Ricci. Ricci had 125 Serie A games, and a few seasons as Torino captain and Jashari had 30 games in Belgium and 100 in Switzerland. Overpaid by a lot. You don’t buy players from 3rd or 4th tier league for 40M. Only Milan does. Arokodare 24M I think, De Cuyper 20M, those are max fees from that league unless Milan comes….
