GdS: Milan want stronger Italian ‘identity’ in dressing room – Fiorentina star targeted

AC Milan are looking to take on a more Italian influence during the summer, and that includes some of their transfer targets too.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that CEO Giorgio Furlani has made the decision that the new sporting director and head coach must be Italian, or must at least have experience in Serie A.

In the last two transfer windows only one Italian player was signed and that was Riccardo Sottil, on an initial loan deal from Fiorentina. From the summer more attention will be paid to signing players domestically, to ‘give stronger identity to the dressing room’.

There is also the squad list issue which feeds into this, given the requirement for a certain amount of academy graduates and homegrown players. Thus, there will be an Azzurri focus when it comes to the summer business.

One name that is circled as a target is Pietro Comuzzo. The priority is to strengthen other departments, but the defender – also called up by Luciano Spalletti to the national team – is very popular.

He is not the only Italian under the magnifying glass for next season, the report adds, amid rumours that Samuele Ricci and Lorenzo Lucca are names that the management are monitoring.

    1. let’s agree to disagree. RLC peaked already and is very injury prone. Musah (while still an idiot) is quite young and can learn the craft.

      1. Musah thinks he’s an attacker… wrong use of his talents…

he’s not a dribbler, nor the best with possession under duress, nor strong with his shots or to be honest even accurate… what kind of an attacker can one become without any of the following traits…

his strengths are physicality, stamina and normal level of speed. he should literally try imitating Kessie, deep defending, doing a bit of meditation/yoga/pilates just to calm the f down… and he should be a good defender imo…

  1. Regrettably, lack of Italian identity has been a problem for too long. Way too much reliance on French players in the last few years.

  2. Hopefully this isn’t just media rumors but based on something concrete. Comuzzo would be a great medium/ long term investment. Make it happen !

    Forza Milan

  3. The present Italian footballers are very lazy and not ready to be a footballer…. they play average football….no players like Gattuso…buffon….zamborota….pirlo… Nesta…Maldini…..
