CM: Milan evaluating move to sign 22-year-old Ligue 1 striker on free transfer

By Oliver Fisher -

The name of Randal Kolo Muani remains a striker target for AC Milan and he could arrive on a free transfer, according to a report.

Kolo Muani was linked with Milan during the summer window before the club decided to sign Pietro Pellegri on an initial loan, but Calciomercato.com reports that the Rossoneri management are still keeping tabs on a player labelled the ‘new Kanu’.

Kolo Muani has two goals in five league games this season and the 22-year-old is hoping to follow up a positive 2020-21 campaign, having finished last year with 9 goals and 8 assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.

The player chose to stay at Nantes despite the offer of Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer, but he has decided not to renew his contract which will expire next June. Muani is asking for €1m in signing bonuses and a contract worth €1.3m net per year, requests that Nantes are not willing to accept.

This is why there is a strong risk that his deal will expire and he will leave for free, with AC Milan ready to evaluate his potential signing having tracked him for a while.

  1. People in the comments mocking Kolo’s stats like they know they faintest thing about football. 13 goal involvements in his first full season not only in Nantes but in professional football at top level is a lot, better than Giroud’s premier league stats in the 4 seasons he played for Chelsea, for example. Kolo is just 22 years old and he’s got 3 goal involvements in 5 matches in Ligue 1 so far this season, so he’s probably going to match or surpass his stats from last season. He’s VERY YOUNG and Milan are interested in him because they know that he’s a prospect of a player who has a huge potential to grow and will cost 3-4 times more than he does now in just a couple seasons in Serie A. Thank god Moncada is working for us and not the “experts” in the comments. Try searching the stats a lot of top players had back when they debuted at top level, maybe this is news for some people but 20 goals and 10 assists in the first or second season of professional football almost never happens. The player has a lot of potential and that’s what Milan is interested in, which is a great market strategy because the club is not owned by princes or sheikhs.
