GdS: Milan want reinforcements in all departments – the names

By Ben Dixon -

The upcoming summer mercato is expected to be busy for AC Milan, and a list has emerged about the targets that the club will be going after in the upcoming summer.

There are several positions where Milan need to recruit in the window, and the club are already preparing an extensive list of targets that they will try to sign. The main points of focus will be a striker and a defender.

Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that it is unlikely that Simon Kjaer will have his contract renewed, and there is a chance that Pierre Kalulu will depart due to his injury issues this season. Therefore, additional coverage at the back is needed.

Currently, the club are favouring Tosin Adarabioyo and Lillian Brassier. Adarabioyo’s contract expires in the summer, and the Rossoneri like his profile so they will pursue him. Additionally, they like Brassier from Brest, whose contract expires next season.

Furthermore, there are some gaps in the attack. Olivier Giroud will leave the club for America in the summer, and Luka Jovic has not proven he can be the starting striker for the Rossoneri consistently, so additions to Milan’s arsenal are required.

In attack, Joshua Zirkzee is the clear favourite, and he has been for some time – given he wants to stay in Italy, there is a lot of confidence about their chances. The club are also interested in Viktor Gyokeres, however, his €100 million price tag is off-putting. Benjamin Sesko remains an option, and his valuation of €50m is an intriguing opportunity.

  1. Milan need a goal scoring CF not Zirkzee. Okafor is a CF but I don’t understand why Pioli is trying him as a LW. He played CF for RB Salzburg and the Swiss National team and has never played as a LW. I don’t get why Pioli does this. Sigh.

Okafor is similar to Zirkzee in his movement and link up play so Milan need a classic CF who can score 20+ goals per season.

As for a defender why not go back in for Caliofiori? He’s a better fit than Bourgioni since he is good at playing the ball from the back. He can also play LB as well. Smh

    1. You are simply not correct in regard of where okafor has been positioned.

      Left Winger 75 19 8
      Centre-Forward 73 26 15
      Right Winger 39 10 7

    2. What’s wrong with Zee?

He scores and assists. Meaning that if we add his goals and assists to our 4 players that have double digit goals, our goals will come from anywhere and make our attack more unpredictable for defenses.

      I think he’s a great fit.

  2. “The main points of focus will be a striker and a defender.” When will these guys under that we need a CDM more than a CB

    1. Just headlines. I’m sure everyone is well aware of the great CHASM we have in midfield that you can’t just duct tape over.

      1. Are you sure?

They did sign 3 box to box midfielders last summer….

        Maybe we’ll get 3 CDMs.

They say the best things come in 3s (nobody says that).

  3. One thing why I want Pioli gone is because of recruitment discrepancies.

We have signed 2 CBs with the return of Gabbia making it 3 and non is playing, Gabbia is back to the bench right now.
Its pointless signing players Pioli won’t use at all or use incorrectly. Okafor is a victim of wrong use, thank goodness Pulisic is a good player, else we’d take him a flop.
RLC may be scoring right now but he has barely had up to 5 decent games off the ball. For context RCL isn’t making England squad playing the way he plays right now.

Lastly Pioli isn’t dynamic with the players he has, it’s more of square pegs in round holes and it’s a real let-down considering we could easily play multiple patterns and be good. But Pioli isn’t a good strategist.

Results may be coming but it’s a result of individual brilliance most times.

  4. There are so many things inaccurate about your post I don’t know where to begin…

    1. Recruitment is done by Moncada. Not Pioli.
    2. Gabbia is playing. Clearly. But rotation is needed.
    3. Okafor is a natural LW and not playing because the guy ahead of him is next level.
    4. RLC has hit double digit goals and pile drives forward any chance he gets. What do you want out of your AM??
*** The reason he’s not at the Euro’s is because of a guy named Bellingham… you may have heard of him?
    5. Pioli IS getting the best out of his players as all his subs contribute and the new players that have come in over the summer are improving and influencing play.

“ Results may be coming but it’s a result of individual brilliance most times” – This. Is. So. DENSE….

    Do we keep going here?

    1. Yeah, it is not RLC’ for not being part of the England team. There are several good players in the same situation. England has many big options in the offensive side of the pitch.

    2. 1. Apparently Pioli was part responsible for demanding all of the changes last summer.

      2. Gabbia has been dropped. And CBs really don’t need to be rotated this much. Chiellini average 33 matches a season over his 17 seasons (and that’s allowing for injuries). He played 44 and 45 matches in 13/14 and 14/15 respectively.

      3. As the stats above show Okafor can play across the front three. That means that one player can solve three positions. But apparently we need a squad bigger than Man City.

      4. RLC – agreed. Plus I don’t really care if players aren’t picked at international level, tons of title winners never made their national teams (and maybe they won titles because of it).

      5. Pioli has done well (in that more players have performed under him than not) but he’s also killed a few players’ careers. It happens. Not all players will perform well under certain managers.

  5. The squad is competitive, we need to buy only if we’re selling existing players. Ok a starting striker to replace Giroud, but other than that, the team is good IF Maignan and Theo renew, otherwise we’d need to replace them as well (Gabbia is replacing Kjaer).

If we can improve other positions, sure… but if we are buying other players, we need to sell what we have. We’re not Chelsea to collect players, and we still have to unload Origi, CDK, Saele, Ballo Toure, Romero, Pellegrino, Colombo and Maldini.

If I see news saying that Milan wants to buy this or that player, the first question to follow should be who is leaving? That’s valid for CB, DM or any other position.
