Thus, reports emerged stating that Milan were moving for an alternative target in Odogu. Now, things have moved quickly and it appears as though he will be the defender who actually arrives.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the deal on social media: “AC Milan agree deal to sign David Odogu as CB from Wolfsburg. Agreement in place for the defender born in 2006 as club to club documents ready, player fly for medical. The deal for Joe Gomez, currently 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝.”
The 19-year-old certainly falls into the ‘inexperienced’ category having made just three Bundesliga appearances, all of which came last season. Nonetheless, Milan have often shown a willingness to invest in talent for the future, and this could be a Malick Thiaw-esque operation.

If you watched Inters defence last night, or in the CL final, you wouldn’t say they have a really good defence. In fact Acerbi and Bastoni are really slow and Bisseck is a disaster. Inter have a really strong midfield and attack, but their defence is their achilles heel. Unfortunately not many teams are able to expose them in Italy because they dominate from the midfield, but Milan has outplayed them last season by outscoring them 10-5 (3 wins, 2 draws, 0 defeats).

Its the fee that gets me. We throw around €10mn like it’s nothing, but then bualk at spending that extra to sign a quality player (eg Buongiorno instead of Pavlovic last season)
