AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez has the chance to break a record in France’s final group game of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
As has been reported by Milan News, the Frenchman has created nine chances in the first two games of the group stage having been introduced early in the first match to replace his brother, Lucas Hernandez, who suffered an injury against Australia.
The last defender to create such a high number of chances was Darijo Srna for Croatia at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He created 10 chances in the three group games for his country.
The overall record, according to Opta, dates back to the 1966 tournament when Francisco Arce for Paraguay created 13 chances.
That means that if Hernandez were to maintain the same rate of chances in the final group game against Croatia, he will take the record. If he does create that many chances, they will almost certainly be taken by the likes of Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe.
