Milan’s worrying record against lower-ranking sides compared to Inter highlighted

AC Milan dropped more points in the Scudetto race last night as their winning run was halted by bottom-placed side Salernitana in a 2-2 draw.

As the Twitter account AC Milan Brasil have highlighted, the Rossoneri have an excellent record against the top seven sides in Serie A having picked up 18 points from a possible 27 so far in the current campaign, which is a 66.7% return.

Inter meanwhile are struggling more in the direct clashes as they have just 14 points out of the 30 on offer, which is 46.7%. That certainly suggests that Milan should be leading the title charge, given the importance of those games.

However, Stefano Pioli’s side have a completely different record when facing teams in 8-20th place as they have 38 points out of 51 – which is a 74.5% return – but their city rivals Inter have amassed 40/42 (95.2%) showing that they are simply more effective at hoovering up points against lower-ranking sides.
