CorSport: Milan comfortably worse off compared to last season as pressure mounts

The Italian media are piling on AC Milan at the moment after they had yet another bad result at the weekend, losing 3-1 away against Udinese.

Today’s edition of the Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about how Milan are putting a Champions League place in serious jeopardy with their poor form, which is essential for the club in economic and prestige terms.

After a disastrous January, Pioli had managed to rally the troops last month, but in March the problems surfaced again. With the exception of what was done in the round of 16 of the Champions League, Milan are having a hard time domestically as evidenced by the single point won in the last three matches against Fiorentina, Salernitana and Udinese.

After 27 rounds of last season, Pioli’s team had nine points more than they do in 2022-23, with Napoli now 23 points away and ever closer to ending their long wait for a league title.

The team are not reacting to the difficulties and there is little attention to detail, while many players seem to be lost or tired. The mistakes from Tomori and Bennacer, the backward steps of Leao and the ineffectiveness of those who come off the bench are harming the team’s chances of a top four finish.
