Journalist says Milan looking at ‘other names’ besides Ziyech with De Ketelaere ‘above all’

By Euan Burns -

Italian journalist Alessandro Sugoni has said that AC Milan are looking at other names besides Hakim Ziyech and Charles De Ketelaere ‘above all’.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport 24 (via Milan News), Sugoni took stock of Milan’s current transfer window situation.

One of the main areas of the pitch that the Rossoneri are looking to strengthen is the attacking midfield. A number of names have been linked such as Hakim Ziyech, Marco Asensio, and Charles De Ketelaere.

Sugoni thinks the latter is the favourite to be signed, saying: “In addition to Ziyech, other names remain, De Ketelaere above all. He costs around €25-30 million, a rather big investment.”

Another situation that Milan find themselves in is the chase for Rome winger Nicolo Zaniolo but Sugoni thinks that the transfer fee will just prove too high for the Rossoneri.

“As for other names such as Zaniolo at the moment there is the impossibility of reaching the figures Roma are asking for,” Sugoni said.

Milan have been chasing Lille defender Sven Botman for many months but he is now set to join Newcastle United instead as the fee was too much for Milan. Sugoni says that this has made them change their approach.

“The line that Milan has taken in this market after Botman’s move to Newcastle seems rather clear: rather than the big investment in defence, with Kalulu’s great season that made them change this line, it seems that the strong investment can be made either in the attacking midfield or the central midfield to fill the big void left by Kessie,” he said.

  1. Yes, it’s a rather big investment but it comes with good return in few years if he’s not INJURED or so. For example LEAO, LMAO.

  2. O.K. we’ll see what next week brings us in terms of transfers and possible reinforcements. So far, everything’s devastating. Judging by the news from the media so far, the main targets are Acerbi from Lazio and a young stopper from the german second division ! Other significant reinforcements would be brought on loan, with the possibility of a buyout. That would mean they think for free. In all likelihood, we’re going to have a budget for now somewhere around 0 euros !

    1. I would have liked to see botman joining us but i gotta agree if losing out on botman means we will get de ketelaere instead then its deffently a win situation as the belgian really should be our primary transfer target.

      1. Just keep an open mind. I fear we will end up losing Maldini n Massara, wt d way dis management is going about our transfer targets. As for me, I don’t see any of these key targets coming to Milan. They just gave us all false hope.

        1. I am a pretty open minded guy chima but frankly i havent got the slightest doubt that maldini and massara will stay beyond the 2021/22 season and that we also will have a better transfer kitty than speculated by the media – clearly the media knows nothing and rarely does as our management works under the guise of secrecy and always has done so. Infact i wouldnt even be too surprised that when m&m has renewed they will fairly quickly present some new additions that they have been working behind the scenes to sign. Anyways i have full faith in maldini and massara and always has had that and even in the case that we wont have 100mil to spend i believe they will still find adequate additions.

          1. Yeah probably low budget around 50-60m euro. I dont mind that as long as they build stadium project. Stadium more important than expensive transfer fee player for AC Milan. But of course we cannot fail to finish top 4 serie A too for CL money. Ziyech and CDK will be great upgrade for our starter in RW and AMF. Ziyech upgrade lord saladmaker on RW while CDK upgrade brahim in AMF

          2. Exactly. No doubt Maldini will renew, most likely this week, because the owners know that success depends on him. Then the signings will begin. Botman would have been good but we have to stick to a lower budget for a few years. Maldini has done wonders with a low budget. Tomori and Kalulu have been absolute revelations. I have a good feeling about CDK. We haven’t had a world class AM since Kaká, only cheap knockoffs like Suso and Hakan, but this guy is promising.

          3. Reccaman i actually believes it will be a bit higher and in the vicinity of 75-100 mil + sales and the fact that we wont get botman is due to the clubs reluctance to go beyond certain marks in regard of each player they scout. Might be lower though as im not a fortune teller 😀 a new Stadum is deffently of great importance and after the sesto san giovani mayor was reelected yesterday i believe it will only be a matter of time before the club realocates to a different area that is unless the milano mayor starts to speed up the process of the san siro project,
Personally im of the view that berradi should be signed for the right wing as his numbers doesnt lie and are far ahead of both asensio and ziyech in the end product he produces. De ketelaere would be a massive upgrade and really hope we will be able to get him this summer.

Gary absolutely but the ownership are propably also aware that the curva sud will drag them out of their offices and lynch them infront of casa milan if they refused to renew a guy like maldini who has been fundamental in our ressurgence. De ketelaere will soon be a worldclass player in a matter of time and i would get him even if it was the only player we would be able to afford, thats how much i rate him.
