AC Milan will play their final game in the Champions League 2023-24 group stage on Wednesday. Having already missed out on some revenue, the Rossoneri will be hoping for a miracle to secure their spot in the Round of 16.
The group of death has certainly lived up to its name as all four teams can qualify for the knockout stage with one game left. Borussia Dortmund have already sealed their place, but Milan, Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain will be battling it out for the last spot.
The Rossoneri could really use a ticket to the knockout stage, as it would boost their budget for the January window. They collected a lot of money from last year’s edition and crashing out of the group stage would be far from ideal.
So far, Milan have collected €4.66m in prize money from the results in the group stage (a win is worth €2.8m and a draw €0.93m).
To the UEFA money, we must also add the revenue from ticket sales for the home games. Milan have sold tickets for €18.7m, with the Paris Saint-Germain clash recording the highest revenue at €7.7m.
Additional revenue, such as the participation bonus, historical ranking and market pool, must also be added to get the total amount. But those amounts have already been set and do not depend on Milan’s performances in the group stage.
It would be around 60 mil or more, and with Tonali sale and that capital gain, in combine, revenue should be the same like last year. Right?
Some players, must be sold. In my opinion, we can see, Adli, can’t play in Milan, he must be sold. Gabbia, Maldini, Colombo, Saelemakers, Origi, Ballo Toure, all must be sold.
De Ketelaere, even could be stayed, he have decent season for now.
Kjaer must be released or sold. Florenzi also is very old.
We must give Chukwueze one more year to adapt. And bring explosive central forward.
Problem with injuries must be resolved, and keep all best players.
In better situation with new CF, we should start bringing more star players, not just youngsters.
