CorSera: Milan’s unbeaten run ends against Torino after disappointing performance

AC Milan’s Sunday night in Turin did not exactly go to plan as Stefano Pioli’s side were beaten by Ivan Juric’s Torino 2-1.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) recalls that after 17 league away games without defeat, Milan’s unbeaten streak in Serie A away from San Siro ended last night against Torino, as they lost 2-1 against the Granata after a rather disappointing performance.

The Rossoneri did not start the match badly and in fact generated two very good scoring chances inside the first 10 minutes with Rafael Leao having been set up by Brahim Diaz on both occasions, but the Portuguese winger snatched at both and in the end was replaced at half-time by Stefano Pioli.

Milan have slipped to six points away from leaders Napoli and it is because Torino adjusted well to the early danger and took advantage of the poor defending to score twice in two minutes through Djidji and Miranchuk.

A triple change at half-time came from Pioli, who removed Kalulu, Diaz and Leao to bring on Dest, De Ketelaere and Rebic, but it did not seem to bring the desired results. Junior Messias scored the goal that halved the deficit but the comeback could not be completed, so now attention turns to Wednesday’s crucial Champions League match against Salzburg.
