Luka Modric is expected to sign a contract renewal, or rather a new contract, with AC Milan next week to continue for one more season.
When Modric joined Milan last summer, the parties agreed on a one-year contract with the option for an additional year. However, since that clause expired at the end of last month, they have technically been working on a new contract for this season.

The terms, on the other hand, are exactly the same as Milan were very pleased with the veteran’s performances this past season. As such, they are also very happy with his U-turn, seemingly deciding to stay at the club despite initially leaning towards a departure.
New contract imminent
According to Pietro Balzano Prota of MilanVibes, Modric is expected to sign his new contract this upcoming week. It will be a one-year contract, as expected, and the salary should be the same as said (which would be €3.5m net per season):
It’s a big boost for Ruben Amorim, who has been counting on the Croatian midfielder to add some experience to the dressing room. When you consider that Milan are looking to focus more on young players, that can be very valuable.
It remains to be seen how much Modric will get to play, but the feeling is that it will be less frequent than last season, also because Milan didn’t have the Europa League to worry about then.

Awesome news.
