Mirabelli: “I’m a little disappointed by Calhanoglu; Suso is still important…”

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli discussed Sunday’s Derby, his thoughts on Hakan Calhanoglu and Suso’s form.

Mirabelli arrived at Milan on 14 April 2017, after the Rossoneri were sold by Silvio Berlusconi and Fininvest to the Chinese entrepreneur Li Yonghong.

The former Inter scout served as sports director and head of the technical area, and was involved in a huge influx of signings that summer, but left on 24 July 2018 when Elliott Management Corporation took over.

Mirabelli began by discussing the weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, which ended 3-2 to Inter.

“It was not easy after the immediate advantage and then the second goal,” he told SportItalia.

“If Cutrone’s shot went in, we would now be talking about another derby, it was a good game, even though Inter played the perfect game and deserved to win,” he said.

“Calhanoglu? I’m a little disappointed. He played a good game against Inter but overall I would have expected more from him.

“Suso? He has got used to doing important things but now I think he is not well or at least he was not well. However, he is important even when he is not at the top.”
