Almost two years have passed since the end of the Chinese era at AC Milan and the departure of the former sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli. Nevertheless, the director likes to talk about his moments with the Rossoneri in retrospect and he took the opportunity yet again.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.com (via milanlive.it), the former Inter Milan chief scout returned to talk about his protege Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, one of the Chinese Milan’s main targets for the offensive department during the turbulent spending spree in 2017.
“He was a weakness of mine since the time I was at Inter. I followed him t Saint Etienne. I haven’t been listened enough. When I went to Milan, I tried to sign him. Aubameyang is extraordinary, he can play in any top European club.”
The 50-year-old also spoke about the progress of Andre Silva, whom he signed for Milan in the summer of 2017 and also gave his opinion on the way the Rossoneri handled Krzysztof Piatek’s situation.
“Andre Silva is young and has great qualities. he needs to adapt. He came to Milan from Portugal, he had done well in the national team too. He had to adapt. In Germany, he is doing well and I am sure of one thing: he will be one of the strikers of the future.
“Piatek? When you switch from Genoa to Milan you need to adapt. You have to be patient. An attacker is said to be good in any category when he scores goals. With Genoa Piatek did great things, maybe he’s not nice to watch, but he scored. Sometimes there is little patience. When you play for Milan, you want everything immediately. Once you have identified the player, you have to wait.”
Finally, Mirabelli took the time to voice his opinion about the rising star of Italian football – Sandro Tonali – who has attracted the attention of many top clubs across Europe with his positive performances for Brescia this season.
“He is one of the most important talents we have in Italy. He is worth a lot and he could play in Barcelona or Real Madrid. Whoever signs him will make a great deal,” he concluded.
