Mirror: Man Utd outcast could join Mourinho at Spurs as Milan baulk at €33m asking price

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United playmaker Jesse Lingard could team up with former boss Jose Mourinho at Spurs having been linked with Milan, a report claims.

Lingard struggled hugely in the 2019-20 season and has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford after a season in which he didn’t manage a single Premier League goal or assist until the final game of the season.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) claimed last month that Milan had been offered the chance to sign Lingard from Manchester United in the summer window.

Lingard’s agent is Mino Raiola, a figure who of course has a lot of influence at Milan given he represents Gianluigi Donnarumma, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessio Romagnoli.

According to the Daily Mirror though, Milan’s interest – as well as that of Roma and Fiorentina – died when United asked for £30m (€33m) to sell their academy product.

Now, Tottenham have emerged as shock contenders for his signature, as the 27-year-old had played his best football under Mourinho.

Spurs do have Giovani Lo Celso, Steven Bergwijn and Dele Alli already in that position, but the latter could leave and free room for Lingard’s arrival.
