ML: Conti faces tough test as two players are ahead – future hinges on this season

The international break is useful for players who need to catch their breath or return to top form after an injury. Andrea Conti is in the latter situation, hoping to compete for a spot in the starting eleven.

As highlighted by MilanLive, the former Atalanta man has left his physical problems behind him and now wants a starting spot. Towards the end of last season, he was the first-choice right-back ahead of Davide Calabria.

However, the former has started this season really well and also earned a call-up to the Italian national team. Furthermore, Diogo Dalot joined the team on loan from Man Utd, making it even tougher for Conti to get playing time.

Stefano Pioli gave him just 22 minutes against Sparta Praha in the Europa League and he will need a lot more than that to convince. After all, his future hinges on this season as his contract will expire in 2022.
