A return to the Premier League could become a possibility for Ruben Loftus-Cheek as AC Milan look to continue evolving their midfield department, a report claims.
MilanLive report that the switch to a 4-4-2 formation means that head coach Paulo Fonseca considers Loftus-Cheek a reserve for now. The Englishman will have to try to adapt his way of playing to the coach’s needs if he wants to win back a starting spot, all while the management look at another signing.

It is no secret that Milan is looking for another midfielder, a player who can play in front of the defence with greater ease and can this support both Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders. In Italy, Belahyane from Hellas Verona and Samuele Ricci from Torino are being followed.
Carney Chukwuemeka is always on Geoffrey Moncada’s radar and he could be an opportunity to seize, especially if Chelsea were to allow a loan with option to buy. However, Edson Alvarez could also become an option.
The West Ham midfielder has made seven appearances at the start of this season, five in the Premier League and two in the EFL Cup, for a total of over 380 minutes. He is not exactly a first choice for the Hammers, given in the league he has started three times.
West Ham might be interested in the idea of bringing Loftus-Cheek back to London and thus an exchange deal for the Mexico international Alvarez could be talked about.

Alvarez is an actual DM, no way this club would be interested in a player like that..
Bye bye RLC
I will personally drive him, pay for his plane ticket, hell carry him on my back from Milano to England if there is any truth to this.
So he is a bench player in West Ham but good enough for Milan? How about you start to go for quality players for once who can actually improve the team, clown management.
Exactly
Are You forgetting how cheap our management is?
We buy “once upon a time good reject” and hope they hit previous form.
We have great players in our academy, give this dude chance to strike, pls we need Xavi of barca
Edson Alvarez is OK, not amazing but he’s not too bad. I know that’s not a ringing endorsement but he’s a natural DM. A half decent DM is way better than a terrible RLC. This transfer might not light up the fanbase but it’s better than some of the other drivel this management has tried.
Edson Alvarez is a 100% mediocrity.
He was considered by Chelsea, but didn’t make it there.
Having seen him with the Mexican NT, he is usually just dominated by the US midfielders.
Just look up some of his Youtube highlights. Mostly him receiving safe passes and delivering safe passes.
Bad mistake to trade him for RLC, not that RLC is great.
RLC is mostly an attacking midfielder with minimal defensive ability.
Alvarez is just an all around mediocrity.
Good if RLC leaves both for him and the club.
However we should stop listening to Moncada about bringing in new faces, he is a f-cking idiot.
Emerson Royale for Kalulu is a firing offence
I totally agree with you
You would think that after so many failures in the midfield, they would go for a more proven player, or at least a player with Serie A experience. But no, obviously it’ll be another no name that never played in Italy and will need one or two seasons to adapt.
Belahyane? I watched some Verona matches and never noticed him. Get Ricci for DM and Chukwuemeka for AM. Not some unknown player from Verona.
Lol Ricci, this management is too cheap to buy him. They are too scared to take a risk and splash significant cash on a signing. Their reputation is being decimated by the minute. They might not have a choice.
Fonseca can’t make miracles. He pulled one off on a tired and exhausted Inter that faced City. He changed his strategy, so they couldn’t prepare for it. Now that Cat is out of the Hat, our weaknesses are coming back to the forefront.
I never endorsed RLC, always been one of those he has great potential IF he could just get those wheels turning in his head a split second ahead and be more assertive, just a bit faster to engage a rin, just a bit more physical, just a bit better at identifying outlets fast enough…He never put it all together consistently, or else he’d be Chelsea’s Lampard or Scholes, a club Legend….Shows a flash, then the light fades as quick as it appeared
RLC is actually really good. This coach doesn’t know how to use him. Look at him last year. Problem is the coach actually
he wasnt all that good last season. Pioli was an idi0t for playing him in AM. Ruben is not an AM, never was, never will be.
He scored 10 goals in his first season but those goals are nothing to the strength of your opinion about him!
told 3 times already. half of those goals are just padding up stats. they mean jack s*it.
WTF do you not understand that scoring goals against slavia praha empoli or cagliari is nothing to write home about?
Even stade R goals are just padding stats.
Where were the goals against Roma? Atalanta? Juve? INTER?
He was nowhere in those games. ofc. the 10 goals (4 of those in LE) in first season ruben scoring cheek.
The Cheek being people think he is really good because he scored a few goals against loser teams
He scored 10 goals against teams that were so bad we could afford to have him play as a forward and have no contribution in the midfield. We played those games with 2 midfielders, none of them could tackle and we won because there was nothing they can do against superior quality.
But truth has to be said, in the other games, or even in the games where he scored and assisted, his contribution to the midfield is close to inexistant.
Loftus-Cheek never did the things you’re now complimenting Morata for doing which are dropping back, passing quickly, good positioning. His passing is horrendous, he hesitates too much only to choose the worst possible pass and his defensive skills are subpar.
His only 2 good attributes are running forward with the ball because he is so hard to bring down and position himself in the opposition’s box to shoot. But if we want to win titles again, we can’t afford to start the game with such a one dimensional player.
Yeah, we gotta buy Ricci before he is Ricci.
Casadei is the Italian for Milan. Massive talent, that is there to mould.
And RLC’s problem is not really that he needs to adapt to any particular system. His issue is that he’s not really a midfielder. He is a guy that starts in the position of an 8 but who doesn’t really have a game other than the occasional burst forward. Admittedly that can have spectacular results but there is 90% to 95% of game time that he’s a black hole in a system.
For RLC to adapt at this point, and at 28, would be to evolve midfield craft and tactical intelligence that, reading between the lines, he has never really had. He is too complete a physical package to have had this career if there are not significant tactical deficiencies in his game.
Casadei hhh what rubbish
Please bring Maxim De Cuyper from Brugge to Milan as a backup LB for Theo Hernandez.😔😢
I swear to God if we sign another Chelsea player I’m done. All of a sudden Milan want all their players from Chelsea.
He was our second most successful signing of all our many pointless signings last season but of course everyone wants him out.
It’s a vibe thing.
Okafor 1000 minutes played. 6 goals 3 assists.
Ruben 2860 min played. 10 goals 2 assists.
Jovič 1242 min played.9 goals 2 assists.
Ruben 2860 min played. 10 goals 2 assists.
Now keep in mind these are all offensive players. Ruben wasnt šlaying midfiled like Reijnders 4goals 4 assists in 3800 min. Nah, he was an attacker.
Jumping on an attacker we loaned ‘cuz Bald Pioli didnt want him. CDK for atalanta 2900 minutes 14goals 11 assists playing THE SAME position as Ruben..
Thank you, goodbye
Just get Noni madueke
