ML: Maldini left impressed by 20-year-old Verona star after performance at San Siro

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan got the three points after some difficulty against Hellas Verona, and Paolo Maldini was reportedly left very impressed with a young Gialloblu player.

The away side certainly started well at San Siro and raced into a two-goal lead after controlling the tempo in the first half, and although they did not hang on MilanLive reports that the Milan management carefully observed a young Verona player and were left impressed.

The man in question is midfielder Ivan Ilic, who played all 90 minutes and put in a very assured performance for someone who is only 20. Verona bought him from Manchester City in the summer for €7.5m and despite his age he has already played for five different teams such as Red Star and NAC Breda.

Paolo Maldini and the other Milan directors liked what they saw as the Serbian played with freedom, contributing both in the defensive effort but also carrying the ball forward.

  1. We need more cover at CAM….get him at 10M in January. Sell Messias..he is too injury prone..Castillejo will cover for him as our 2nd choice RW till the summer at least.
