ML: Man Utd loanee overtaken in the hierarchies – his permanent stay now highly unlikely

By Oliver Fisher -

Any chance of Diogo Dalot being bought outright from Manchester United and remaining beyond the summer gets more unlikely as each game passes.

According to the latest from MilanLive, reports suggest that Pierre Kalulu will get the nod to start at right-back against Red Star on Thursday night in the second leg of Milan’s Europa League Round of 32 tie.

That means that Dalot is set to sit on the sidelines again, unless he were to be played at left-back. The Portuguese has so far been the architect of very inconsistent performances, and only in the Europa League group match against Sparta Prague – in which he scored a goal and got an assist – has he looked like showing the potential fans were told he has.

His performance against Spezia was the icing on the cake as he really struggled in a 2-0 defeat. In the Europa League it was his starting place at right-back as he could try to get confidence against, with respect, lower-ranking sides. If things have changed now, Milan are highlight likely not to choose to sign him permanently or even negotiate for it.
