ML: Milan plotting 2025 move for Torino star amid ‘surprise’ asking price

Another report has claimed that the AC Milan management do not consider the midfield to be complete and that Samuele Ricci of Torino is on their list.

TuttoMercatoWeb reported earlier in the week that Ricci is a player that the technical director Geoffrey Moncada ‘greatly admires’, to the extent that he was considered the main alternative to Youssouf Fofana.

According to MilanLive, Ricci’s displays to start the season with Torino and with Italy have only confirmed the talent that he has. He has shown his ability to adapt to different roles in midfield, playing in front of the defence and as a mezzala.

The fact he is a home-grown player also provides advantages, and the clubs are queueing up. In addition to Milan, Inter and Napoli have also shown strong interest in the Granata star, but it is likely the the Nerazzurri and the Azzurri need a sale first.

Currently under contract with Torino until 2026, Ricci is at the centre of a renewal mission from Urbano Cairo that includes an extension until 2029, with a significant salary increase. The Torino owner wants to show him how important he is, but also increase leverage if clubs come in.

The asking price is €35m at the moment and this is a figure that has ‘surprised several interested clubs’ but that Milan would consider completely appropriate to secure a talent of this caliber, as per the report. The Rossoneri seem willing to make an economic effort to secure the young midfielder.

As such, a move for him is being planned next summer when proceeds from the sales of Ismael Bennacer, Yacine Adli, Tommaso Pobega and potentially other players could bring the funds to complete the coup.

  1. 35m is not a lot in the current market for a player like Ricci. Once again many here put him forwards as a top signing for us and the no6 we need. Yet again we are late to the party and will attempt him on a free where we get out but in salary…another missed opportunity because we don’t go above 20m….

    1. “Ricci is at the centre of a renewal mission from Urbano Cairo that includes an extension until 2029”

learn to read… if our management doesn’t explain that to him that we will sign him, but not for Cairo imaginary accounting skill-based pricing, so he should just wait for a year, then we can sign him for a minimal fee!

      1. Nope I was referring to someone here on SempreMilan who said to me in the last week or something that we would be able to buy him next summer for 10 mil which clearly wouldn’t be an option even if Cairo isn’t able to renew him before hand so its not a lack of being able to read on my end.

        1. Makes you long for the good old days of RossoneriBlog doesn’t it? I don’t remember everyone being so touchy over there but could be rose colored glasses….

          1. 😀 We did have some fun times over there and I do still look over there from time to time but nowadays its like walking through a western town and the tumbleweeds blowing across the street.

          2. Yeah that was always an issue as it often caused the discussions to quickly fizzle out. One of the main reasons I also left the site. Its not all directorial choices SempreMilan does that I like but the comment section is always kept alive due to the constant new articles posted.

        2. if the mf has 1 year left on his contact like Fofana, you can force even the most deluded managements to accept the right fee… if Ricci signs until 2029, that’s a lost cause then

          1. You clearly don’t know Cairo then. He might just as well run his contract down to expiry in 2026 and it can easily be argued that the value for Torino of keeping the player for one more season is worth more than a measly fee.

  2. It’s about time management thinks about players that can take us to the next level…not just anyone who is flavour of the moment. Potential is a good yardstick if you are building…but we must be able to mix that up with proven abilities.

  3. Stop this garbage talk of 2025. Finish 2024 first. We followed Joshua from Bologna all season with high hopes but he ended up in Man U so please if you don’t have correct happening news then go and cover war news
Enough of high hopes news which never happens

    1. Hahaha what a bs. He is a good Italian player that cost over 20 mil and is not injury prone so he will never be a target for Redbird. If Moncada was interested and Redbird was not cheap and Anti Italian then they would buy him now in the were Milan needed someone like him but they wanted under 20 mil Kone instead. Sempre Milan should write about good Italian Players are targets because its bs.

    2. Barring a miracle, Moncada is out at the end of the season. After €200 million in 2 years on transfers, there’s no way we’re spending that much again without major sales – one of Mike, Theo or Leao will be sold and Italian players will be signed.

  4. Meh. Just another mezzala. He might become a good midfielder but he definitely isn’t what this team needs. And for that price. Fúck that. 20M. Maybe.

  5. Belotti 2.0 here. Ricci is developing slowly and a couple of good showings with Italy don’t justify a price hike to 35mil or whatever ridiculous amount Cairo will try to put on his head.

If Ricci is smart (I mean if his agent is smart) he will not renew with Toro and move on to a better club to become a better version of himself.

  6. Barring a miracle, Moncada is out at the end of the season. After €200 million in 2 years on transfers, there’s no way we’re spending that much again without major sales – one of Mike, Theo or Leao will be sold and Italian players will be signed.
