ML: Milan could bank €10m this summer as Monza set sights on Pessina

AC Milan’s incoming mercato will not be funded just by the prize money and investment of the new owners, but also by sales. Matteo Pessina, of all people, is one who could help the Rossoneri this summer.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Milan but left in 2017 as a part of the deal that saw Andrea Conti join the Rossoneri from Atalanta. Massimiliano Mirabelli, in charge at the time, made sure to include a favourable clause.

As highlighted by MilanLive, Milan are entitled to 50% of a future resale and after a slightly disappointing season, Pessina could leave Atalanta. Newly-promoted Monza are interested and the price tag is around €20m, i.e. €10m for Milan.

Pessina is currently on 96 appearances for the Bergamo side and once he reaches 100, the 50% clause will be removed and instead be replaced by a €2m compensation for the Rossoneri. A move thus remains unlikely this summer but has become a possibility amid his performances this past season.
