ML: Swap hypothesis emerges as Romagnoli could leave Milan for Lazio

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli’s contract will expire in 2022 and if Milan can’t reach an agreement on the renewal this summer, they will have to sell the captain. Lazio could be the next destination for him, a report claims.

According to MilanLive, Romagnoli could be a concrete target for Lazio as Maurizio Sarri wants a competitive team for next season. In the last few days, a swap deal involving Luis Alberto has been mentioned, but he might not be the right counterpart.

Another hypothesis involves Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been on Paolo Maldini’s radar for a very long time. Taking the Serbian’s price tag into consideration, Romagnoli would hardly be enough and another player could be included.

The right profiles in that sense could be Rade Krunic or Rafael Leao, but it’s also clear that this is only an idea. Joaquin Correa is perhaps a more realistic option that could go the other way, as he doesn’t seem to be in Sarri’s plans.

  1. Give Romagnoli+Crunic+ Castillejo to get Milenkovic Savic. Then Gabbia could step up his game to add depth to the defence
