MN: €10m per year and low output – Milan’s Origi and Rebic dilemma

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have struggled to find the back of the net this year, especially since the shift to the three-man backline, and several attackers are underperforming. Two of them are Divock Origi and Ante Rebic.

Rebic has been with the club since 2019 and Origi joined on a free transfer ahead of the current season. As highlighted by MilanNews, given that Milan pay €10m gross for their salaries per year, they haven’t done enough.

Origi has struggled with injuries and stands at just two goals, both of which were very well-taken but not in any way decisive. Rebic, on the other hand, has three goals but he hasn’t played enough and his inconsistency has really shone through.

The two were supposed to alternate with Olivier Giroud, but the latter has been forced to work overtime this season. Rebic could leave at the end of the season if he doesn’t improve, while Origi might get a little more time but he still desperately needs to improve.

  1. If we look at the squad salaries we’d notice that our highest earners are our least productive players, with the exception of Theo and Giroud.
Dest, origi, rebic, Florenzi plus Bakayoko.
Get rid of all of them

    1. Totally agree with you ! All those players you mentioned and add Ballo -toure too.. it must be said that the greatest disappointment has been Origi, I mean he just shouldn’t play as he literally offers nothing to our game. I don’t mean to disrespect him but he should go to he middle east for a last payday.

  2. Maldini has too much of Galliani in him. Either we have a youth project or we don’t. Management is seriously confused.

They buy young players but we have a coach who only plays them under extreme circumstances like long term injuries to players ahead of them. Milan should have never signed Origi and they should have sold Rebic and Messias last summer.

  3. Well who doesn’t make impact in one season should be sold in next one. This is rule that should be applied. Only if the player is young and perspective with low salary can stay.

Origi if can’t be sold should be sent out on loan and save from his salary next year. It is better to have Colombo than him.

And Rebic unfortunately lost every chance this season. He should be sold for best offer and put Chaka Traore on bench. !

  4. Origi is a real problem, he is on big money and nobody else will pay him that. So he’s going to do what he has for his whole career. Sit on the bench and count his money

  5. Origi is laughing all the way to the bank. He found a sucker in Maldini. Same with Bakayoko. 0 performance, big money.
