MN: A round-up of Milan’s injury situation ahead of crucial run of games

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to rebound against Juventus tomorrow after the 3-0 defeat against Chelsea, but they will still have nothing like a fully fit squad.

MilanNews reports how the good news is that Theo Hernandez will be back in the left-back role for the match against Juve, with Ante Rebic and Divock Origi both having got more minutes under their belt at Chelsea increasing their match fitness too.

Mike Maignan will return not before Milan’s home game against Monza on 22 October due to the calf injury he sustained during international duty, while Simon Kjaer could also be back for that game given the caution needed.

The player closest to returning is Junior Messias, who has been out because of a muscle strain that he got on the morning of the trip to Empoli. All three, yesterday, carried out individual training at Milanello.

For all the other injured players however it will be necessary to wait for the end of the World Cup. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi have been known as long-term absentees for some time, with Davide Calabria and Alexis Saelemaekers aiming to make the first game of the new year against Salernitana on January 4.
