MN: A suspected bluff involving PSG and potential ultimatum – latest on Kessie’s future

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management want to close Franck Kessie’s renewal and they are not convinced by the legitimacy of Paris Saint-Germain’s supposed offer, a report claims.

One of the sub-plots of today’s matcha against Lazio at San Siro is the reception that Kessie will get from the home crowd when he takes to the field and when his name is read out by the announcer. During the Olympics in Tokyo, the Ivorian declared his desire to stay at the club but a month and a half later, no signature has arrived.

According to the latest from MilanNews, the Rossoneri management feel that PSG’s offer seems like a bluff by Kessie’s agent George Atangana, who is in turn hoping for Milan to raise their bid to his client.

Nonetheless, one thing that is certain is that Kessie is tempting to many clubs so waiting too long would be a bad move. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to close the metter in a very short time and – if no agreement is reached – identify the replacement quickly unlike the attacking midfielder position this summer.

  1. I think the media are just laundering Kessie’s image with the hope that it will ‘convince’ him to sign a contract extension. But its all a farce. Why?
    1. Would the agent ask for a salary beyond what Kessie authorized?
    2. Is the agent playing hard to get just to get Milan to pay his commissions?
Telling the fans not to boo Kessie or pressure him is just a way to pamper him. We cannot confirm.if Milan have given their final offer, pundits are just speculating. If agent is aware €6.5m is the final offer, delaying to accept it will not make Milan increase it.
Maybe maldini has not given him.a deadline by which a response is expected.
Pioli seems to have the plan of using Kessie while he is available to achieve the seasons targets of finishing in UCL places. So he might use Kessie as long as possible.
Milan should make Kessie realize he is not indispensable, by playing other options and getting the same results. He should be rotated with other players too. I think his replacement has already been signed.

  2. Kessie is reported as saying he wants to play UCL with Milan, thats no guarantee of his stay, neither is it a positive sign. He could play UCL with us and STILL leave. It does not change a thing. How the press says Milan count on his desire to stay is simply being stupid. His actions are careful orchestrations similar to the Donnaruma saga. No need to sugar coat it. He wants to stay, he signs and would have done so since, except reports of the €6.5m offer are all lies. Then for as long as their is silence, you assume he is not signing it, plan for his departure tactically and economically. Get a replacement like we did for donnaruma with speed and stealth too. It left Raiola stunned and he scampered around looking for suitors. Maldini should treat both Romagnoli and Kessie the same way. No cunning, upfront and personal.
