MN: A testament to the scouting and a symbol of the project – Kalulu first year at Milan valuable

By Oliver Fisher -

When Pierre Kalulu arrived from Lyon on a free transfer not many knew what to expect from the young defender, but he could become a symbol of the club’s project.

MilanNews writes that some of the performances from as yet unproven young players like Kalulu but also Brahim Diaz and Jens Petter not only contributed to bringing points and victories but also to give certainties to the plans for the Rossoneri’s future.

He arrived having never made a senior appearances but in his first season with Milan he played 18 times, and Kalulu has also shown flexibility by playing as both a right-back and a centre-back when called upon. Any errors that were made came because he has large margins for growth still, but overall he proved to be an extra weapon for a decisive year in Milan’s recovery.

Kalulu is also a testament to the scouting department including the work of Moncada and his assistants, who discovered a player who was stuck in Lyon’s youth team. The signing of the Frenchman is a perfect representation of what Milan are looking for in the young players they welcome, a symbol of the project if you will.

  1. This kid needs to play more. Very composed. Was solid. Need to decide if he is a CB or RB…but he can back up Tomori or Calabria IMO…

    1. I totally agree with you. He needs more game time like Tomori, Kjare is good but we need players who will grow together.
