MN: Abraham starts with a bang – Milan believe he can rediscover 2021-22 form

It took just a couple of minutes for Tammy Abraham to show what he can bring to AC Milan, and the management believe that they have taken a gamble with him that will pay off.

As MilanNews recall, Abraham only arrived on Friday and was officially announced as a new signing late on deadline day, but 24 hours later he was immediately thrown into the fray – along with Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez and Yunus Musah – to try salvage the game against Lazio.

Not even two minutes later, the goal that made it 2-2 came from the feet of the three newcomers, with Abraham serving the assist to Leao with his first touch of the ball before the Portuguese winger slammed in a low shot.

Abraham then tried to call Hernandez and Leao over during the cooling break but they did not, something that in itself has become a saga because they chose to stay on the other side of the pitch, rather than listen to Fonseca’s instructions and stay with their team-mates.

In the final stages, Abraham himself had a good chance, but his shot from a tight angle was deflected behind for a corner by Provedel. In the 24 minutes played, Abraham was the Milan player who shot the most times (2) and he had 100% passing accuracy, participating in the build-up well.

Obviously, it will take time to gel with the rest of the attack but the hope is that he can repeat his first season at Roma, when in 2021-22 he closed the season with 27 goals (17 in Serie A, nine in the Conference League and one in the Coppa Italia) plus five assists.
