After a fruitful second half of the season with Monza, interest in Daniel Maldini is high, and today, a new club have made contact with AC Milan about a deal for the youngster.
Whilst Maldini is clearly a player with potential, it seems the way forward for his career may be away from Milanello, and there has been interest in his services recently from a hoard of Serie A sides. Previously, it has been reported that Lazio, Torino and Fiorentina were in the race, but a new side have entered the equation.
Today, Milan News reported that Atalanta are intrigued by the young midfielder, and his profile is one they are commonly ‘very attentive to’, meaning they could seek a deal. The report suggests they have been the side most recently in contact with Milan.
However, ‘real negotiations’, as the outlet puts it, are not underway, likely because discussions about Charles De Ketelaere only recently concluded. For Maldini, it seems like the future is away from the Rossoneri, given they are looking to invest heavily this summer, and bonus funds will be sought.
Furthermore, given there is no space for a player of Maldini’s profile within Paulo Fonseca’s system, his likeliness to depart rises.

There’s a time when the Likes of Leao said that the most talented players on Milan is Maldini. It’s clear that the kid has lots of potential, and he showed glimpse of it when he started to get regular times at Monza.

I dont understand why we wouldnt keep him as rotation player? Young, talented, Italian and third generation Maldini who has Milan DNA. We dont need the 5-6m capital gain. Fact Atalanta, Lazio are interested means he has great potential.
Yeah it kinda infuriates me and in all his time with us he has only played 560 minutes with us and been fielded mostly as a left wing which isn’t his natural position and then now is loaned out to monza and actually does really well with them and now they want to sell him. He could easily have been a backup for Loftus and get a lot more minutes as i percieve it.
This will come back and bite us but if he leaves us then i hope the club will learn it the hard way as the kid hasnt been given a reasonable chance with us.
Agreed. Shame if we sell him. No reason too except that his last name is Maldini and poor Gerry is threatened by anything that reminds of Paolo and of course with his sale it’s 100 percent capital gains – and that is all Redbird are really concerned about.
I’m generally not in favor of conspiracy theories but I have a difficult time seeing why we wouldn’t keep him as a cam backup exactly because he will be a constant reminder of the debacle with his father.

How is it going to be when Atalanta and Gasperini do their thing and every dip**** Milan administrator and fan (i.e. only the fans who don’t watch him and assume that he’s only at Milan because of his name) have to swallow humble pie as he takes the Serie A apart?

Atalanta will have Scamacca, Toure, De Ketelaere, Miranchuk, Lookman, Maldini ,that’s 6 senior strikers for 2 roles. They will probably be looking to sell at least one so maybe Maldini + cash for Scamacca.
Scamacca is a natural center forward, not a playmaker called a centre forward, also with some good ball control and nice shooting power. He’s had a great second half to the season, recently (Europa League final, Italy-Albanian and friendly vs Turkey) have seen him being really unlucky in front of goal – goalkeepers making great saves or the shot even hitting a teammate. He often appears a bit frustrated for some reason but still keeps the discipline and actually scores goals. And maybe his agent won’t be as greedy.

Don’t think it’s an ideal place honestly. He’ll be struggling for minutes there, unless he really exploded early in the season and became undroppable.
Ideally, he should probably go to Monza/Torino/Viola, those sort of teams who can guarantee minutes for the next 1-2 years and then move up the ladders from there.
I’ve to say I admire how Gasperini handles his squad rotations , especially up top. You could barely tell who was going to start even when one of them was on top form. Although feels he was favoring De Ketelaere more than the others to be honest. But generally Gasperini’s way is how you keep more players more motivated ,less vulnerable to injures and getting everyone involved.
Also Gasperini must have something for tall, slim , slow technical ,elegant attackers.. De Ketelaere, Ilicic, Miranchuk, Maldini. He sometimes plays Pasalic also in attack probably because he’s the traits😊
don’t think its specific to attackers, they generally do this across the pitch. I’m very confident that is actually a criteria they have when scouting and its proven successful for them, its against those kind of teams players like Calabria and Florenzi can be bullied
Well ACM can use him as chip swap for scamacca ( ACM desperate getting striker for next season ) . 40m euro cash + Daniel maldini for scamacca. But i dont mind if daniel stay and fight for his spot in 4231 , he can play behind striker as AMF maybe he will be better than RLC. Fonzy like young player that have fighting spirit, his father paolo can also teach daniel how to help team defense . In my personal opinion daniel have long shoot & freekick better than RLC

Lazio, monza,torino, fiorentina and now Atalanta all want him….but of course we don’t !!?? makes no sense, he is young, talented and Italian, just give him a chance FFS, capital gain of 4-5 mill is nothing, I agree with getting Scamacca 100 % but we must stop sending away our young italian talent, makes me sick, I also believe in Colombo and Nasti, give them a chance in the 1st team rather than getting some unknown foreign moneyball player who couldn’t care less about Milan.

From what I’ve seen of him I’d sell. Kinda seems like another Pobega, ever has their “he’s Italian 😍😍😍” blinders on. Not to Atalanta f them, but sell to a small club where he can stand out and feel special.
