MN: Atalanta to buy De Ketelaere permanently in €27m operation – the details

Charles De Ketelaere will soon be announced as a permanent signing by Atalanta after they decided to use their option to buy, according to a report.

According to MilanNews, De Ketelaere can now be considered a permanent Atalanta player after La Dea decided to pay the €22m option to buy in addition to €2m in bonuses and a 10% resale clause. Some of the doubts circulating about whether he would end up back in Bergamo, therefore, are gone.

Things were moving towards completion on Wednesday and yesterday the final details between the two clubs were defined. The official announcement is expected any time from today onwards, and it must be remembered that Atalanta also paid a €3m loan fee.

De Ketelaere’s spell at Milan therefore lasted just one season in which he made 40 appearances and scored zero goals. In the last year he had much better numbers under Gian Piero Gasperini, racking up 50 appearances, 14 goals and 11 assists.

Calciomercato.com reported yesterday that Milan had agreed to remove the clause that dictated that they would get 10% of the proceeds from a future resale due to the positive relations between the clubs, however the MilanNews report and Fabrizio Romano both state it is still there.

    1. The money was never in question. They have enough.

The question is about principle, because paying 15m commission is absurd.

Agent Commission should be under control, I’d say like maximum 10% transfer fee.

      1. Some people just cant understand this, they will paid as long its the right valuation, and 15M for agents fee is absurb

      2. Principles often prove very costly in business. Bottom lines are what matter. I work in a divorce court and you know how many people blew up settlements over principle who later went on to get even less after trial? A LOT.

          1. Milan are a business. Not a man. Additionally, Kia has his principle…he wants 15m because he knows we’re getting a bargain. It comes down to the maths. Plain and simple.

          2. So let’s think this through….
Sesko 50m plus just for transfer (even tho he just extended)
Gimenez 50m just to get him through the door, and his agents commissions are unknown to us.
Other options include Guirassy and Dovbryk who are both 27 and I don’t think anyone believes they will become world class strikers this late in their career.
So then do we go for the option of someone older again like Lukaku or unproven like Omorodion? Doubt most of the fan base will be pleased with either of those options.
In the end the bottom line is simple…55m for your preferred striker target who could lead the line potentially for years to come for 55m. Is this a good price in 2024? Yes, it is.

          3. Nobody is getting one of the hottest strikers on the market for under 50m today. Disabuse yourself of that notion. It will not happen.

        1. To your comment below, 55mil for Zee is a good price when it’s not your own money you’re playing with. LMAO!!!

That’s like going to a good restaurant and tipping 38% – FCUK that. For 38% tip you better come home with me, clean my house, do my laundry AND whisper sweet nothings into my ears.

  1. This is positive news, that the buyout clause remain the same. Good luck for your next journey Charles.

On the other hand, as its categorically good news, the negative “Milan fans” brigade won’t comment much on this article… or maybe they will try to find more fault. Like it’s a mistake to let him go or something. Let’s see.

  2. So we gave 1m discount.
We sold one of the best prospects in international football, at a discount.

Now watch Atalanta resell for 35-40m.

    Banter era never ended.

    1. IT doesn’t matter. The more money they sell for, the more money we get for a kid that couldn’t cut it at San Siro and wouldn’t fit our system anyway.

  3. It’s up to clubs to make a stand against agent’s commissions – Agents will just continue to push the envelope to see what they can get away with..
    Make a stand, now!

  4. Good.
Now this is close, we didn’t make concessions (as we should) and we don’t have to speculate about having a lesser budget.
Now we have to find a way to sell Saelemakers, since Bologna don’t want him anymore, and sell/loan/offload some other players in hopes of getting even a bit of money out of them.

  5. I prefer Samuel Omor. due to his physicality, energy, good in the air, good awareness, and speed.
He’s very young and not an injury-prone player, there’s a lot of room for growth.

  6. stupid decision. Atlanta never sell players cheaply. When he is sold for 60-70m we have forgone 6-7m in extra money buy wavering that clause. It doesn’t make sense economically.
