MN: August to be a busy month for Milan – six possible sales and five signings targeted

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been busy in the first month of the transfer market but more operations are expected as we head into august, a report claims.

The management have strengthened the squad with the arrival of Maignan, Tomori, Ballo-Touré, Tonali, Brahim Diaz and Giroud but the general consensus is that the squad is not complete, with some fringe players to be sold and some reinforcements needed in key areas.

MilanNews writes that Maldini and Massara are working to offload players that are no longer deemed useful for the project such as defenders Andrea Conti and Mattia Caldara, wanted by Sampdoria and Venezia respectively.

Jens Petter Hauge has a big market and Eintracht Frankfurt offered €8m, which was deemed too low, but the Rossoneri could settle for €12m. Rafael Leao is not up for sale, but if a bid of €25-30m came in, it would be taken into consideration.

Samu Castillejo could also leave with the interest of several Spanish clubs registered, but to date no concrete offer. Tommaso Pobega wants to convince Pioli and is training well at Milanello, but could also leave if another midfielder is signed and a bid of €12-13m came in.

In terms of signings, the management are focusing on a loan with option to buy strategy, including for the attacking midfielder role where Julian Brandt, Nikola Vlasic, Marcel Sabitzer, Isco and Hakim Ziyech are targets. The feeling is that it will take a few more weeks before the decision is made to concretely advance for one of them.

A young third striker should arrive in the squad to grow alongside Ibra and Giroud and while there is a lot of excitement around Kaio Jorge, competition is high and Milan will not raise their offer above €2-3m.

For the right wing, as a profile to alternate with Saelemaekers, Josip Ilicic is always to be kept an eye on as per the report. Maldini and Massara will also try to bring Diogo Dalot back to Italy after his loan from Manchester United, and the player wants to come back.

Finally, if the transfer market offers the right opportunity, an attempt will also be made to secure a fourth midfielder alongside Kessie, Bennacer and Tonali. The favourite seems to be Bakayoko, who Milan would only loan.

  1. Sad that NO ITALIANS are considered as options. 4 European champions have made it through our academy, none of them in the club anymore: Gigio, Locatelli, Pessina and Cristante. More are Milan fans, as il Gallo and Chiellini…

  2. How about krunic???? is he super stars like Messi or mbappe, seems like untouchable,,, sell him and get kamara that’s much better. As well , samu castillejo seems this players remain in the team due to less suitors and pioli always gives him minutes play. Send him on loan , so he wiling to leave

  3. Krunic will not leave (Pioli pushes for him) while there is no market for Castillejo. Pobega will stay. Not because we learnt something from the past, but because Milan does not have money to buy Kamara or Bakayoko. Kaio is already a Juve player.

  4. sell: krunic,castillejo,leao,conti,caldara. get atleast 40m

keep: hauge, colombo(jorge may agree to juve),pobega(no need to spend on bakayoko)

buy: sabitzer, illicic, ziyech(if possible) to complete attack and fill the CAM void left by hakan.
