MN: Bad news for Milan as Giroud’s back problem has worsened recently

By Isak Möller -

As if it wasn’t enough that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on the sidelines, the same can now be said for Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman was left out of the squad list for tonight’s clash against Atalanta, all due to his back issue.

As reported by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli decided not to call up the veteran striker as he’s still struggling with back pain. In fact, in recent days, the issue has worsened and this is indeed bad news for the Rossoneri.

Ante Rebic was expected to start tonight anyway, but Giroud would have been useful off the bench. Instead, Pioli will now have to rely on the young Pietro Pellegri, whose form is hard to determine after a long period of inactivity.

Hopefully, as is the case with Ibrahimovic, Giroud will be fit for fight after the break. Milan will take on Hellas Verona at San Siro and they don’t want a repeat of last season’s result (2-2).

  1. Milan must fire the medical team. Why doour players always get injured? Dzeko is older then Giroud but he has played more games without injury. WTF? We won’t ever win anything with the rubbish physios we have

    1. I agree with you, if we are to buy older players, they must belong to the absolute world top, as Zlatan does / did … Giraud is as bad a deal as Manducic

  2. If this doesn’t prove we need to spend big $$ on a reliable young striker (Valhovic) for next season than nothing will. We cannot go through another season like this. It cost us the league title not having Zlatan last year for a full season and it may happen again this season….this must be addressed at all costs.
