MN: Balentien barely training with Futuro as Allegri expresses support yet again

Cheveyo Balentien has had a very positive start to life at AC Milan, training mostly with the first team after getting the stamp of approval from Max Allegri.

At the end of August, more specifically on the 21st, Milan announced the signing of Balentien from ADO Den Haag for the Futuro side. However, Allegri instantly took a liking to the 18-year-old, even giving him a chance off the bench against Lecce last time out.

“The starting XI? Between today and tomorrow morning, I have to evaluate the situation of those who have returned from international duty. With Nkunku only partially fit and Leao out, we have Balentien, who came on against Lecce with a good attitude, quite savvy,” Allegri said during his presser today.

More minutes on the cards?

As highlighted by MilanNews, Balentien has barely trained with the Futuro in recent weeks as Allegri has called him up for the first team. Indeed, the Rossoneri believe in his potential and Allegri’s assistant, Bernardo Corradi, has taken the player under his wings.

Balentien remains a very young player so Milan will have to proceed with caution, but Allegri’s words suggest he hasn’t made his last appearance for the first team this season. And if he continues as he has done in training, who knows, he might even get a starting spot.

  1. Given the ages, it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall and hear the discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of Balentian and Comarda.

If Comarda does not get regular minutes at Lecce, a question with Stulic having been brought in, it feels a lost season.

    1. But Camarda is actually getting regular minutes at Lecce as he has already played 128 Serie A minutes + 18 in the Coppa Italia so I think its fairly safe to say that he will play a lot of minutes for them this season if he stays fit. Besides of that Balentien is a winger.

  3. Let’s spin this story into a positive. We got $h!t for a 9 Max requested, so let’s instead “put our faith” in a kid and hope for a miracle.

      1. Pato had already been at Milan for several years when Allegri became the coach. I’d would personally rather argue that he utilized De Sciglio at a young age.

          1. El Sharawy as well but he was brought in from Genoa for a fairly hefty fee for us at that time so it was more in the cards that he would get utilized by us.

  4. Good to see the youngster involved…He must be showing promise. He looked very comfortable coming on a few weeks ago. Good for him.
