MN: Barcelona defender heads for Leeds in €15m deal but Milan’s strategy remains unchanged

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have missed out on signing Junior Firpo from Barcelona so will turn their attention to other targets, according to a report.

Multiple sources are now claiming that Firpo will soon complete a €15m move to Leeds, including MilanNews, Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio. In the end, as per the first source, the formula was decisive for the success of the negotiation in favour of the English club as Leeds will buy Firpo outright, while Milan pressed for the loan formula with possible option to buy.

With the Spaniard now gone as a possible objective, Maldini and Massara’s strategy has not changed. They will continue to follow some profiles and will try to sign the right one on loan with an option to buy. Any signing will be a ‘pure’ deputy Theo Hernandez: they will play only and exclusively on the left side of the defence when the Frenchman needs a rest.

  1. Hilarious. What a waste of time. Of course he joined Leeds. At best we offers him a back up role and at best we offered Barca a loan w option to buy. Leeds gave him starting place and paid cash to Barca. What a fkn waste of time. For months all we heard of is Firpo. Now back to square one. Seems we don’t know what the hell we are doing lol. So disappointing….
