MN: Big gap in Milan’s squad being highlighted – Fiorentina star remains the No.1 target

AC Milan’s defensive depth will be tested during the first few games of the season and the management are at work to address it.

Milan are in the market for a new centre-back since that department is currently stretched due to the injuries that Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio are currently recovering on.

According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri management at the moment are not looking at signing a new right-back and will go into the new season with Davide Calabria, Andrea Conti and Pierre Kalulu.

However, a centre-back is not only a priority but a necessity. A department of five capable central defenders is needed, and at the moment Leo Duarte and Musacchio do not offer the right guarantees.

Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is the first choice target and could arrive if La Viola lower their economic demands from the current €30-40m.

The Serbian would certainly be an important upgrade, both technically and in terms of adding quality depth. It must also be remembered that last season Romagnoli did not miss a single minute from August until his injury in July.

If the captain had missed a few more games it could have been perilous, so Milan cannot get away with failing to address their biggest need.
