MN: Biglia’s renewal not in the club’s plans for three reasons; River Plate linked

After three seasons, Lucas Biglia’s time at AC Milan will end once the season is over and his contract expires, a report claims.

As MilanNews notes, Biglia signed for Milan for a fee of €19million euros Lazio in the summer of 2017 and was one of the last purchases of a summer transfer campaign that saw over €200million spent by the previous Chinese ownership.

The Argentine though has disappointed enough in these three years due to a combination of injury problems and poor form, so as a result he is no longer part of the plans of the club.

There are several reasons for this. First of all, he is 34 years old and therefore does not fall within the parameters of Ivan Gazidis who wants to build a team made up of young players.

Them there is his salary: Biglia earns €3.5million net per season, a figure too high for Gazidis who wants to impose a salary cap €1m lower than that figure.

Furthermore, in the last few months the Rossoneri midfielder has often been injured, thus also demonstrating that he does not offer guarantees from a physical point of view.

His last appearances dates back to December 8 against Bologna, while the last game he started was back in November during the 1-1 draw against Napoli. His fate is now written, not even a great end to the current season (if there is one) can change the minds of the leadership.

According to Fichajes.net (via Calciomercato.com), a return to his home country could be on the cards as River Plate are interested in signing the veteran regista.
