MN: Bonera, signings and stays – Milan continue preparing for U23 team

By Oliver Fisher -

Daniele Bonera is getting ready to lead AC Milan in their friendly against Roma on Friday, but after that he will become the leader of the U23 side.

There are a handful of names listed from the Primavera that have tasted senior football under Stefano Pioli this campaign and have ignited a rejuvenated youth academy that has somewhat been left in the darkness for several years.

However, there is another step foreseen in the near future. The Rossoneri plan to follow the lead of Juventus and Atalanta who have registered their respective U23 squads to compete in Serie C, the advantages of which we explained in a previous feature.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, ‘everything is ready’ when it comes to the B-team project even if there has not been an official announcement regarding the registration of the team, which will occur when another team fails to register for Serie C.

Milan are already doing their evaluations when it comes to preparing a squad that can be competitive at the level, while many Primavera players could continue their development with the new team rather than potentially being loaned out.

New signings will arrive to boost the squad too, with Christos Papadopoulos and Andrea Adorante having already been linked as potential additions by Gianluca Di Marzio recently.

That confidence probably means they’ve bought one of the teams out. At least I hope.
