With the announcement that Brahim Diaz will take the number 10 shirt, he becomes the latest non-Italian player to occupy the prestigious shirt.
As MilanNews writes, Brahim was preceded by a number of other foreign players, counting back through Hakan Calhanoglu, Keisuke Honda, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Clarence Seedorf, Rui Costa, Zvonimir Boban and Dejan Savicevic.
The latter was the first to wear the most coveted jersey after the introduction of personalised numbering in 1995-96 Serie A season, and Demetrio Albertini was the last Italian to wear 10 for Milan.
So how have they all fared? Well, counting back forward, Dejan Savicevic amassed 52 appearances with 11 goals and 19 assists, Boban had 79 appearances with 11 goals and 11 assists and Rui Costa racked up 192 appearances, 11 goals and 47 assists.
Clarence Seedorf wore the shirt for six seasons and totalled 241 appearances with 40 goals and 40 assists, then Kevin-Prince Boateng took it, registering 39 appearances, 5 goals and 7 assists. Keisuke Honda took it in 2017 (92 appearances, 11 goals and 16 assists) then Calhanoglu wore it last, with 172 appearances, 32 goals, 48 assists.
