MN: Cardinale and management speak with squad at Milanello – the details

By Ben Dixon -

Following the disappointing defeat against Parma, AC Milan’s owner Gerry Cardinale has visited Milanello to speak with the squad and management, according to a report.

As expected after two poor games, there are heaps of criticism being directed towards several areas of the Milan setup. From the players to the manager to the management, the fans are voicing their displeasure to ensure the situation does not worsen.

Of course, we are only two games in, but there is a lot of work to be done ahead of a difficult month. Questions are largely being asked of Paulo Fonseca’s system and his team’s ability to play it, especially considering some of the leaders of the team failed to impress.

With this in mind, it is important for calm heads to prevail around the football club, and this is what is being attempted at Milanello today, according to a report from Milan News.

With Gerry Cardinale in Italy at the moment, he took advantage of the opportunity to visit Milanello alongside Giorgio Furlani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada, and he met with Fonseca and the squad to offer their collective support.

Following the message, Cardinale and Furlani departed, leaving Moncada and Ibra to follow the morning’s training session.

    1. Gerry flies in to save the day hahahaah
He’s got no clue nor do the rest of the management.
Zlatan sold out, now he’s in charge of entertainment division at RedBird hahahaaha. Look it up. That trip he took with Ambro was for entertainment purposes.
They want a youth movement but all our youth get sold every year. No one gets promoted.
Bellanova could of have been a starter…sold
      Colombo…sold
      D. Maldini..sold
      Pobega….sold
They have invested and bought more for Futuro then the fist team hahahaaha
My buddy who’s a Spuds fan was so happy they sold Emerson Royal. He said the guy was terrible.
We sold a great player in Kalulu for 13mil and bought Royal for 15m hahahaha
Gerry will sell all the top players and replace them with crappy ones or youth. He said so…he just wants Milan in the CL. He doesn’t want to win because to win he has to spend big money…he just wants dividends from his stocks.
But he didn’t realize that fonseca blows and we might end up mid table before Christmas if not sooner.
Gerry knows he needs to pay off a big loan to Singer and no one in the Middle East are interested in investing with him because he doesn’t know what he’s doing. I hope some day soon he ends up like yonghon li

  1. 2 games and already there’s a crisis at Milan. I was trying to be positive and supportive of the clubs choices but if this poor performance continues then it will be difficult to remain optimistic as it already seems like we are heading down the wrong path and that starts with the appointment of Fonseca.

  2. It’s all about the coach. For the players to be so not invested in the team for me it’s 100 percent the players not convinced by the coach. Watch how Juve is doing under Motta until now – they play such an attractive football – solid defence fluid as a team with perfect counters. So if Motta can transfer his ideas so fast then it’s clearly Fonseca who can’t do s*it about it

    1. You’re on point. Motta has changed the tactical play of Juventus from a boring and defensive team to an attractive and attacking team. Fonseca might be way older than Motta, but he clearly lack the skill to manage top quality players. Musa has let us know that he lacking that through the press conference.

Fonseca is well suited with teams without big names or young squad. I hope we won’t regret letting go of Pioli only to replace him when Fonseca.

  3. So if you guys no longer believe that this team suits fonsecas playstyle then the management made a huge mistake hiring him.

Go look at motta. I don’t even know half the players on juve and he’s giving youth players starts in the game and guess what? They’re all scoring! Watching juve I see a real compact 4 2 3 1 and this is what I had said about milan. When we attack, why are both the full backs up on the wings and the double pivot right on the edge of the box? Someone like fofana should be hovering around the center circle and Calabria should be midway back in his position instead of leaving 1 center back and getting counter attacked all the time. If we can’t make it happen with five people attacking directly than we have a huge problem. And this side to side switching to only pass back because we can’t break down a team who defends needs to stop. I couldn’t stand it with pioli and at the moment I can’t even stomach to watch them now.

    1. I agree, that is why without Leao this team would score 50% less. The only player that sometimes solo breaks the defence. This has been Milan for 3-4 years now and it is a joke to hope one player will do something or just pass around and back. You can’t even sell Leao before you have actual tactics, gameplay.

  4. I am highly disappointed about the 2 poor games to start the season on a down side, all the good signs shown during the pre season friendlies suddenly disappeared, the management were to be blamed for the type of transfers over the last few years, having failed to sign the best Italian players available, watching chiesa going to Barcelona,we can see that no sense of belonging in the team unlike the days of maldini, nesta, pirlo & shevchenko, they were playing like an headless chicken without desire..I think we need quality players who are ready to win for Milan not a lazy player like Rafa Leao who thought he will win the balloon d or with his fragile mentality & lazy attitude,we have to find solutions as early as possible because the season might be over before it already begun, Fonseca compromised about chukwueze putting him back to the bench, should have stuck with him..I hope we see a different team against lazio

  5. Arrogant clown, together with Furlani and Mocanda.
Motta was free they didn’t took him, look how he is doing for Juventus 2 games 6 goals scored 0 goals conceded… meanwhile our players sleep on the pitch.

    1. He is not free, he has word with Juve before May. The only thing delayed is they need to release Allegri who has big contract with them

    1. Almost every Milan fan wanted Motta, they went for Fonsesca who is the same if not worse than Pioli, spent 70 mil and get beaten by a newly promoted team… but is ok we won the games on US tour and made the americans happy

  6. Appointing Fonseca is a bad idea, let him win straight five matches from now, his team can never be consistent honestly and we will end up looking for top 4 till the last day of the season

    1. Even Haaland as Morata’s deputy wouldn’t help since the players are lacking the fighting spirit. They don’t care about the team. They lack the ambition to win and do what is needed to get the points.

The team should be better than last year. Last year we finished second. It’s the attitude that is holding us back.

      1. Is it a surprise that morale is low?

The players were loyal to Maldini, Pioli Tonali, Calabria etc

Even Leao posted a pic with Calabria “my captain”
What does it do to morale when your captain is undermined by signing Emerson?
We could have kept Kalulu and we could have avoided that kind of discontent.

These people know nothing about building a “team”.
It takes time and consideration and quality. Maldini knew what a good team is and how one is grown (not built)

We just chopping and changing and signing mediocre players, that disrupt squad harmony

        1. “What does it do to morale when your captain is undermined by signing Emerson?”

So, have you studied professional athletes (if so, provide a link to the online version)? Or is this one of those “Trust me, bro!”-things?

Because every professional would be happy to get more competition to the team as without competition no one will improve. Look at Theo. He has no one to challenge him for the starting spot – heck, he doesn’t even have a backup! Does that show on the pitch? EF YES IT SHOWS!!!

          1. So is that your answer to every opinion you disagree with?
            “have you studied professional athletes”

            LOL

You are right, competition is good. But there needs to be balance.

We should have kept Kalulu IMO.

In general there is a lot of disruption and the players look confused and unmotivated, thats a huge problem

  7. As my opinion before, Fonseca must have guts to change the Pioli system.

Look at pre season, Fonseca can bring Milan good play, with his starting eleven.

Players like Theo, and Leao who “Pioli’s kids”, just rest them on the bench. See what Motta’s done in Juve right now.

Fonseca must give chance to youngsters, that still willing to obey his tactics. Just like pre season.

  8. Juve play fantastic football under motta. Hes not superstar coach but he knows seri A atmosphere. Fonseca ? You just look roma’s performance under his guidance. Milan need Italian coach. Coach like sarri or conte. Play football like there’s no tomorrow. A hardcore coach. Hahaha..

  9. Lol Gerry gonna talk about what? He doesn’t even know anything about Milan or football. Just look when he fired Maldini & Masara without respect.

  10. Gerry Cardinale play the role of Larry
Moncada plays the role of Curly and
Fulani is Moe. Together they make the three stooges the difference is the 3 stooges look like geniuses compared to these clowns!
