MN: Celtic decide against signing full-back but his return to Milan could be short-lived

By Oliver Fisher -

Diego Laxalt’s spell at Celtic has come to an end but it seems that his return to AC Milan could well be short-lived, according to a report.

According to MilanNews, Laxalt will return from his loan after his adventure in Scotland with Celtic. The Glasgow-based side will not buy the Uruguayan left-back outright, so he will return to Milan after a season.

The player still has a contract at Milan until 2022 and there has been speculation that he could stay and be the deputy to Theo Hernandez heading into next season, but the report claims that the idea of Laxalt’s entourage is to find a new destination immediately.

The Uruguay international will therefore have a fleeting return to the club, and Milan are moving to find another left-back to replace him and become Theo’s understudy ahead of the 2020-21 season. Laxalt, 28, joined Milan from Genoa ahead of the 2018-19 season and has made 35 appearances for the club across all competitions.
