MN: ‘They could think of cash’ – Chukwueze’s time at Milan ‘not working’

Samuel Chukwueze joined AC Milan with a lot of excitement. The former Villarreal winger had been exceptional in La Liga, and when he moved to Serie A, there was confidence in his ability to continue improving. This has not been the case, though.

Under Stefano Pioli, the winger rarely got a look into the team, and when he did, he often under-performed. In Serie A, there were noticeable issues with his game, and whilst he had a few nice moments in the Champions League, he struggled massively with consistency.

When Paulo Fonseca arrived in the summer, things seemed slightly different, with the Portuguese head coach working heavily with the winger. Once again, though, he has not shown anything yet this season.

Perhaps, this could be due to the performances of Christian Pulisic, and whilst the American winger has been superb, it should be a motivator for his competition. Instead, it has led to suggestions that he needs a ‘proper’ deputy, rather than the underperforming Chukwueze.

As Milan News writes, last season, he played 33 times – starting 15 of those games – and only recorded six contributions. This season, a similar story is unfolding – seven games, zero contributions. Leading to suggestions that he is a player ‘transformed’ in all the wrong ways.

Due to his poor form, the report suggests that an exit in January may be possible, and whilst it is early, if there is no improvement, the Diavolo may think about cash.

    1. De Ketelaere had one season. Chukwueze is in his second season. 25 years old. Was criticized by Pioli, now by Fonseca. He’s a bust and Milan won’t get anything close to what they got from Atalanta for De Ketelaere. Great moneyballing here.

        1. For what it’s worth, Chuk played 1380 minutes last season. CDK played 1481 in his first season at Milan. A difference of about 100 minutes 🤷‍♂️. Granted CDK did start more.

          1. Fair enough I hadn’t looked up the stats – but at least he played well toward the end of last season and got us past Newcastle – as opposed to a certain Belgian.

          2. The truth is he lacks the tactical and technical intelligence of a professional football first of all he is very one dimensional, he does not have the physical attributes of a professional footballer, he is not serious, he plays as if he is on a beach, if only he understood that he does not have to dribble when not necessary, football is a very simple sport, know when to hold the ball, and when to be fast, if we really want Cardoso from Betis, we could include him and some cash.

          3. I’d add that Chukwueze came from la Liga and started in a side that reached the UCL semi-finals. So this is not a shy, young player who isn’t used to big games or pressure and has less excuses than CDK.

          4. To be fair, CHuk isn’t playing much because the guy picked ahead of him is playing lights out. CDK didn’t have direct competition and was still atrocious…

        2. CDK was also leaving his home after living with his mother his entire time, not quite the same situation. He also had a great season at Atalanta as a younger player. I hope Chuk improves because I don’t relish in people’s failure. I want the best for him and our club.

    1. What is your issue with getting players lol? If it were up to you our teams average age would be 50.

Also, its only natural that when somebody isn’t performing and you want to strengthen a position you go and get somebody.

  1. If we manage to sell him for a good chunk of money (not that I think that’s feasible but I’d take anything north of 10-15M€), we should probably think of getting Riccardo Orsolini. He scored more than 10 goals a season for 2 seasons now, not every expensive, played less than 2000 minutes last season (so more willing to accept being a bencher), know the serie A very well and is Italian (no need to make a room for him).

  2. Milan need to sell all of their wingers except Pulisic and Okafor. Chukwueze will never come good at Milan and Leao has already peaked.

Leao is not getting any better than what he is today which is a lazy footballer like Balotelli who will never reach his full potential.

If Milan management smart which they are not then they would sell Chukwueze and Leao.

Move Pulisic to the Left wing and sign Edon Zeghrova from Lille for the right wing.

    1. I agree with your sentiments to a tea. Right on, the nostalgia on Leao is just beyond me at times. There have been more gifted n talented players than Leao I don’t know if most of these people are just starting to be fans

  3. When Milan bought him, it was great success for club to bring him.
But what about now ??? What happened with that dude???
Who is most suitable for Milan ?
