MN: CSKA Moscow star Vlasic drifting away as a target for Milan – the reasons

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking for a new attacking midfielder but are still working under budgetary constraints which makes their pursuit difficult.

MilanNews provides an update on Milan’s hunt for Hakan Calhanoglu’s replacement, reporting that in addition to technical skills it will be important to think about the costs of a potential operation and of course the salary that the player would receive.

That is why the pursuit of Nikola Vlasic is not proving to be easy. CSKA Moscow are proving to a tough nut to crack and will not approve the formula of a loan with option to buy, while Milan do not want to invest €25m to sign the player outright.

The Croatia international is moving further and further away as a target due to this stand-off between the Rossoneri management and the Russian club, despite having been pushing for some time to come to Milan.

  1. In hindsight it would have been easier to have given Hakan the extra 1 million Euro and avoid all the hassle to find a replacement. Then again, management was trying to be firm. Hope we can find a suitable and ready to play replacement before the new season start.

    1. To my recollection in regard of the media reports it was hakan going behind the clubs back negotiating with inter so even though we maybe started out with a lesser offer whos to say that we wouldnt have improved our offer had we known that actually was the case. Anyways i wouldnt really be too worried as theres still roughly a month of the transfer window left and im fairly confident that we will find a more consistent player compared to the turk ever was.
