MN: Details emerge regarding Mandzukic’s contract and extension clause – his future is uncertain

By Oliver Fisher -

Some more information has emerged regarding the terms of Mario Mandzukic’s contract with AC Milan from a reliable journalist.

A number of different sources have claimed that Mandzukic – who signed an initial six-month deal back in January – would get an automatic 12 month extension if the Rossoneri secured their return to the Champions League.

According to Anto Vitiello of MilanNews on Twitter however, his renewal is not automatic in case of a Champions League qualification. Instead, he reveals that there is an option in the contract in favour of the club, but it will be the pitch that will determine whether the Croatian earns another year.

It would be fair to say that at the moment his return to Serie A has been difficult, given that he has played just 158 minutes across all competitions and has been recovering from a muscle injury for the last few weeks, but there are 10 games for him to earn another year.
