MN: €20m Lokomotiv star ready to snub Atalanta as Milan could solve two problems

By Isak Möller -

In addition to a backup for Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie, Milan could make a signing for the attacking trio ahead of the upcoming season. One of their targets wants a move to the club, a report claims.

The player in questions is Aleksey Miranchuk. As highlighted by MilanNews.it, while Atalanta have opened talks with Lokomotiv Moscow over the midfield star, Milan have also been in talks with the Russian side to include Diego Laxalt in an operation.

Per the report, citing rumours from Russia, the player would prefer a move to the Rossoneri and the move to Bergamo remains tough. Back in July, Milan postponed negotiations for Miranchuk due to the Ralf Rangnick uncertainty.

Now that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been confirmed, the 24-year-old would be the perfect reinforcement for Stefano Pioli thanks to his role and characteristics.

We are talking about a very technical guy, left-footed, who plays both as an attacking midfielder and as a winger. In fact, by bringing in Miranchuk, Milan would solve to problems: the right side and the replacement of Jack Bonaventura.

In recent years, Miranchuk has also been deployed as a striker and even on the left-wing. Consequently, he could act as a backup for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ante Rebic, ready if called upon.

In order to convince Lokomotiv, as the report continues, an offer of around €20m will be needed. A non-trivial but rather obligatory investment for a player who already has some international experience.

Milan could thus fill a void without spending a fortune, which would preserve some funds for other signings. It’s clear that Atalanta, regardless of the Champions League, will hardly be able to offer the same salary as the Rossoneri.
