MN: Elliott will carry out ‘radical change’ this summer despite Pioli’s resurgence

By Oliver Fisher -

There appears to be little hope of Stefano Pioli continuing into next season with AC Milan, at least according to one journalist.

The Rossoneri made it six wins in eight games since the return of Serie A on Saturday night, thrashing Bologna 5-1 in a game where they could have scored double figures.

Il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reported on Sunday how a hypothesis is beginning to take shape whereby Pioli stays on as head coach after all despite all the rumours about Ralf Rangnick’s arrival.

They cited sources close to the club in claiming that no decision on the coach will be made before the end of the season. As mentioned, the German remains the number one candidate, but Pioli’s chances of staying have also increased after an incredible last month.

As MilanNews reporter Anto Vitiello notes on Twitter, Pioli is having wonderful end to the season and is making an unexpected comeback, giving a style of play and identity to Milan.

He adds that there are legitimate reflections, but the road to the future has been laid out for months, rightly or wrongly: Elliott has a radical change in mind and will carry it out.
