MN: Fonseca or Ibrahimovic’s choice – who will replace Theo Hernandez

With Theo Hernandez suspended for the next two games, AC Milan are left in a difficult position. Replacing the Frenchman is no easy task, and there are few options to choose from.

For so long, Theo has been Milan’s heartbeat, the constant guy to perform when others weren’t. This season, he hasn’t been that, and Sunday night was the truest showing of his current decline. A red card, a missed penalty, a penalty given away, a horror show.

In recent weeks, he has shown more of the left-back that the Rossoneri love, and know, but Sunday was a quick trip back down to earth, and with his ban being confirmed as two games, Fonseca now must make a decision about his replacement.

As Milan News writes, there is time to decide on a replacement due to the international break, which is only a good thing. However, it is a problem that still exists.

At the start of the season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated that Alex Jimenez would be the deputy, but he found himself behind Filippo Terracciano in pre-season. This, therefore, could be an opportunity for him to make an impression, but it is not unreasonable to think the Italian could start once again.

Alternatively, it could be neither, and Davide Bartesaghi could be the chosen one, given he has now served his own suspension.

Either way, Fonseca must decide – does he follow Ibrahimovic’s words from the summer, or make his own decision.

  1. Nope. Davide Bartesaghi Is the ONLY choice. The other 2 players are utter garbage and I don’t know how they are even in this club.

The red card against Davide Bartesaghi was criminal and the ref should have served a suspension or even jail time for that.

This kid can defend and he deserves his chance. Same for Coubis who is a better Center Back than Tomori will ever be.

Zeroli once played RB and he is far better than Emerson Royal. I don’t even understand why he hasn’t moved to that position. This kid played like the second coming of Maldini.

  2. Another season where there is no LB cover. 5th in a row? Ballo Toure was such a fail I don’t even count him. Is there any club in any of the top leagues without 2 left backs?

  3. I would keep Theo on the bench for another 2 weeks and have the club fine him for getting a red card after the match was finished – unnecessary behaviour.
The coach is weak – change him immediately.
